Sew Nice

Well, either sew nice or sew crazy! You can now behave like Jane Fairfax in your own drawing room with Jane Austen's Sewing Box. Jennifer Forest examines Jane Austen's novels and letters to reveal a world where women are gripped by crazes for painting on glass and netting purses, economise by trimming an old bonnet, or eagerly turn to their sewing to avoid uncomfortable conversation. Her women were often sewing, netting, embroidering or knotting, all manner of Regency crafts. With research Forest put each of the 18 craft projects in the book in its historical and literary context, along with a background in history. Now will someone sew me a pillow?
