Really Ga Ga

I think our Lady of the Crazies has really taken her status as a gay icon too much to heart. Now she wants to be a man, and has created a persona for Vogue Hommes Japan (they will publish anything, apparently, as long as it is white) called Joe Calderone. Of course, like everything else she does, this is mere dress-up. Not convincing as a female, she's just as unconvincing as a male (I've seen Linda E do much better, amd even Christy!). All she really proves in these pictures is that she's just not very pretty, and in the end, not terribly interesting or creative. Pictures, Nick Knight.

hear hear! so on the spot! touché! i don't know, the japanese who once seemed so cutting edge & ahead of the curve are really beginning to lag, and not just in pure economic terms either...

  3. Dear Anon 1: Their magazines are really hit and miss and they absolutely worship white people!

  4. Dear Anon 2: It's not the only thing: She's just not pretty, girl or boy. It makes one realise that beauty is the same in either sex; beauty is truly genderless. So is plain-ness.

  5. DG, I agree with you on what you said about Gaga. I don't find the appeal of her, at all — neither original nor groundbreaking. Not pretty nor ugly enough.

It's just constant desire to shock, to make headlines, to outdo her last attention-seeking behaviour.

  6. Dear Mr B: Glad u agree! I actually think she has already outdone herself in the shock stakes - what would be really shocking is if she proves to be an enduring talent.
Now that would be truly shocking.

  7. There is more than one MR B ?? The original Mr B doesn't dislike the Lady as much as he does Madonna.

  8. in all honesty, Gaga is a much better musician & singer than Madonna. Her Madgesty is at heart truly a dancer, first and foremost, and that has never changed, throughout the years.

i'm probably in the minority, but i think Gaga has real musical talent, and she really doesn't need to do all those gimmicks. her music can stand on its own.

problem is: will her current batch of fans, who are attracted mainly by the image/costume changes, sit down and just listen to her songs? that i'm rather doubtful...

  9. Dear Mr B: You have an imposter! In truth, I don't hate either. They are mere fodder for eye rolling exercise.

  10. Dear Anon: As I'm not musical, it's hard for me to say but I've heard many friends say that Our Lady of the Crazies is indeed a true musical talent, so I doubt that you really are in the minority.
Madge is just getting old and as I've said somewhere else, pop is a game for the young. She's just entirely off - anachronistic.
