Dear Anon: I think distilled witch hazel can be bought in any pharmacy in liquid form. It's an astrignent, and mainly used externally to treat burns and swelling. It also has anti-oxidant properties. Apply with cotton pads. I think mrs vreeland here is just trying to say how simple and low-maintenance she is.
