  2. its about inspiring the rest of the world to take clothes to the next level. eventually it turns into a trend everybody will wear when they are ready. dont be ignorant and say that no one can afford designer clothes. its so much more than that :)

  3. Dear Anon: Agreed that sometimes things can get silly/ unwearable (especially in the case of thom browne), I must say that alot if it is inspirational, beautiful and inventive. People do buy and wear this stuff - i was at the shops just yesterday and because of the mark downs, there were actually lines outside shops like LV and Burberry was packed like a bus station.
Dear Dennis: As it is a new decade, lets hope that the designers show something new and ravishing, something to inspire and lust after. I always look forward to Prada, Jil, Dries and Lanvin is now a firm favourite!

  5. Dear Dennis: Ahhh... you go more for the 'intellectuals' i see... i quite like dior and kris van assche, yohji i've become sort of blind to not because he isn't good but he's been doing the same stuff for years so i don't really see his work anymore; comme can feel abit contrived sometimes, and gimmicky? i like rick owens, ysl and hermes and lv too. i think veronique nichinian and paul helbers do a really good job always.

  6. i wrote my thesis on visionnaries, discussing comme des garcons and alexander mcqueen :) (and i studied graphic design btw) and yes i love the philosophy behind the clothing, even though most of the time you can't even see the concept in the actual clothing. except for names like rei and alexander :) ps ive never heard veronique nichinian's name before.... am i bad? haha

  7. Dear Dennis: Well, ms nichinian's not a 'visionary' and maybe that's why? she just makes awesome, beautiful, elegant, very french clothes, and such a sense of colour. i wonder how you would define a visionary? i consider galliano a visionary and i love seeing his mens shows the styling is always exceptional and inspiring!

  8. i'd send you the pdf but it's in dutch ;) think probably hussein chalayan's way of designing is the definement of visionary design :) it's about the visions and ideals rather than pretty clothes

  9. Dear Dennis: Ahhh... but then they cease to be clothes and become art? I guess there's a place for everything? I do like pretty things, and i love art, but i don't necessarily want to wear art, do you know what i mean?

  10. of course! i love pretty things too. im just saying that i like the designers that choose statement over beauty :) not that i DONT like beautiful clothes ;)
