L'Homme

This lovely Dior Homme advertorial appeared in METAL #20, shot by Sarah Moon, with art direction by Kris Van Assche. The models are Adrien Sahores, Aleksandrs Rusinovs and Oleg Antosik. The video below from 1993 is Ms Moon, talking about her work, sounding like a poem, really quite astonishing.

  1. hypnotic.... reminds me of a vintage silver gelatin print. but i just wish the clothes were up to notch though, this collection was totally uninspiring on the runways. they look pretty in the campaign though. but i cant help but feel that KVA is kinda gimmicky. no doubt he's good, he managed the mean feat of upholding D H but when i look at his own collection i feel he's kind of a marc. lotsa hoo ha and not much substance. i guess when you have to second guess yourself and the customer you kind get lost. lets hope he does a collabo with h&m or target soon... hehehehe....

  2. Anon: I agree with you. His work for Dior Homme is so much better but for his own label, something seems to be missing? I won't go so far as to say he's a marc - i think he's a credible designer and at least he can cut and sew. i do think he's clever to use sarah moon to do this advertorial right? it's a good fit.

  3. what a charming Franco-English accent. only a French artist could make a VO sound like the recitation of a poem. and i love her take on 'reality': there's no reality; everything is made-up. right on, ms moon...

  4. isn't this youtube a treasure? ms moon going stream-of-consciousness, i wonder whether its scripted? but the tumble of words does seem atavistic for her...
