Summer Hotter Than Others

So summer, and classic Madame Mario, is this story shot in Rio by Mario Testino for the new issue of V Man, featuring the token female Izabel Goulart surrounded by some seriously sweaty Brazilian boys. Ms Michael Roberts is somewhere else on the beach eating his heart out. This is Madame Mario at his best. The styling is just tacky enough.But they are all very jealous of François Rousseau's new book, the wonderfully titled Wet Men!

Trend: Matured Men and Drags

Stephen Dorf (he's in the new Sofia Coppola movie, no, don't roll your eyes yet) exemplifies the trend towards featuring the matured man in magazines: T and then V magazines put him on the cover. The recent fall Vogue Homme International dedicated its entire issue to the matured guy, making a convincing case for growing up, growing old, with grace - and beautiful clothes. The trend for drags has actually been a long while in the making and has truly come out of the closet with the fall Arena Homme + and this Industrie cover with Marc Jacobs in drag. Shouldn't it be 'Ms' Jacobs rather than 'Mrs' though. The 'Mrs' sort of throws me off - she's married to... Marc?

Created from images captured in 360 degrees using 35 individual cameras - this is Bloom: Flowers for Kate, a film created from stills photographed during the two-day shoot for V Magazine. The poetry of Roddy Lumsden, composed on set and read by Kate herself, provides the perfect soundtrack. She sounds so cute!

Another day, another Karl Lagerfeld shoot with Beloved Baptiste (V Mag). This time, yet another silly romp through the 1970s when Aunty Karla was still young and greasy.

Dear Old Bruce

Now that you have seen some of the "greeting cards" spread by dear old Bruce Weber here for 
this season's V Man, you probably won't need to buy it when it's out, would you? It's really 
more of the same. It's starting to look a bit old no? And getting repetitious, banal
lacking in emotion and novelty, seemingly made specifically for the split second-perving
on the internet. And I love Bruce Weber. Sigh...he's gone so bad!

This is startling isn't it? The new V cover looks hardcore in the best possible way - well at least it has a point of view. I've always been a fan of Jean Paul Goude and I'm glad it looks like he's back doing editorials. Such a blast from the past!
