Ponyo On The Cliff By The Sea

So after a long anticipation (ridiculous, I know, how I do work myself up to a lather), I finally watched Ponyo On The Cliff By The Sea, the Hayao Miyazaki feature, with the little ones. It had its moments, and the art's fresh but I suspect something was lost in translation. Spirited Away had more magic, and My Neighbour Totoro more invention. I'm afraid the fragrance I wore to suit the cartoon, the summery under the lemon arbour Annick Goutal Eau d'Hadrien was no match for the cooking fumes that permeats Great World City.

The moment seems right to wear citrus-y scents again, after the trend for orientals. I suppose in a way citruses suit the chastened economic times.

  1. Little ones: Little Joshua, Martin, Aussie... then went to Zouk where there was tsunami of people and no oxygen. Felt like a fish out of water. I'd rather be home on the cliff by the sea.
